JBL Live 770NC

Look, for $129, the JBL Live 770NC isn't trying to be the audiophile's dream. What it *is*, however, is a remarkably competent pair of wireless cans that punch well above their weight class, especially if your priorities lean towards a robust, engaging low-end. JBL has nailed that signature, thumping bass that’ll make your favorite tracks feel alive, and the True Adaptive Noise Cancelling, while not absolute silence, does a commendable job of carving out your personal sonic space in most everyday environments. The battery life is frankly astonishing, easily seeing you through multiple long-haul flights or a solid week of commuting without breaking a sweat. It’s a no-nonsense, workhorse of a headphone that delivers on its core promise: good sound and effective noise reduction without emptying your wallet.

Where the 770NC stumbles, as some have pointed out, is in the finer nuances of the midrange. Don't expect razor-sharp clarity for intricate classical pieces or delicate vocal performances. It’s a sound profile built for impact and enjoyment, not critical listening. The build is largely plastic, which is to be expected at this price, but it feels solid enough for daily use. Connectivity is reliable thanks to Bluetooth 5.3, and the inclusion of a 3.5mm jack is a welcome touch for wired listening or when battery life becomes a concern. Ultimately, if you’re seeking a vibrant, bass-forward wireless headphone with excellent battery and decent ANC for less than $150, the JBL Live 770NC is a shrewd buy. Just don't expect it to replace your studio monitors.
